Massage
Therapists have completed many hours of education, which includes
a variety of bodywork techniques, extensive anatomy and physiology,
and knowledge of when a massage is and is not appropriate. Some
Massage therapist specializes in a specific technique, while others
chose to work with various massage modalities. When selecting
a massage therapist, ask about credentials. National Certification
in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, in some cases State Licensing
and Professional Membership in a Massage Association is a good
indication that you have a therapist that is serious about his
or her profession. Continued Education is critical in this field,
especially in order to meet Certification and Licensing requirements.
A good therapist seeks out opportunities to grow both professionally
and personally. Many
therapists, such as myself, work on a holistic approach. For me,
this means incorporating a blend of massage techniques to bring
about the desired results. I may suggest in addition to massage
that you have reflexology, energy healing or an aromatherapy treatment
to bring your body back into balance. But remember, this is your
massage. Ongoing communication is a necessity when planning a
session. Please be prepared to ask your own questions about massage
when scheduling an appointment. |
